San FranciscoIt may well be Americas greatest city - and San Francisco is a favorite for us at Topic Tours. San Francisco has some of the most distinctive landmarks in the USA, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, Mission Dolores, Alcatraz, Chinatown, and Golden Gate Park, and cable cars, Americas only moving national historic landmark, all set against a backdrop of unique natural beauty.
To some, San Francisco means fresh seafood, and you can still see the fishing fleet along the pier. The city has an opera, ballet and symphony, as well as theatres, clubs, museums and galleries, making it a great destination for arts and entertainment. To others it means excellent restaurants, and youll see why Conde-Nast readers voted San Francisco the worlds best city for dining.
Access to Californias vineyards makes San Francisco an oenophiles city. It is easy to understand why some see the city as an outdoors and sports mecca, whether its participation sports such as running, golf, or kayaking or taking in a pro team. History buffs will find San Francisco an amazing place and revel in Gold Rush history as well as a cultural melting pot. Cinema fans will probably recognize scenes from some classic films.
In San Francisco, there is something for everyone. Argent HotelThe Argent Hotel is a blend of design and service. The Argent Hotel is currently under going renovations this year as it transitions into a Westin property in the spring of 2007; and is a sophisticated oasis in the very vibrant area of downtown San Francisco.
Napa Valley & SonomaAmericas answer to Tuscany is Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley. In what has been proclaimed the worlds most fertile land lies a unique blend of soil, sun and climate which produces grapes that yield some of the finest wines anywhere. Over 280 wineries are located in Napa including the renowned Domain Chandon in Yountsville and Robert Mondavis winery in Oakville.
Sonoma County may be a bit more laid back than Napa Valley but still boasts some 200 wineries. The wines of Sonoma Valley, principally cabernet, chardonnay, and zinfandel, often outpace those in Napa. But it is not just the wine - fabulous restaurants and shopping in this area will please anyone.
The rolling hills and lush grape orchards of the Napa and Sonoma valleys are very special to oenphiles and Epicureans alike. With so much wine in one general area, we will take in several vineyards, speak with the cellar masters, as well as do our fair share of tasting. Your tour of the California Wine Country will be a one of-a-kind experience and we hope you will take home with you some lifetime friendships and memorable experiences, as well as a few bottles of the grape! MacArthur Place Hotel The ideal home base for a wine-and-dine tour is MacArthur Place. Located in the center of Sonoma, this beautiful estate is only forty-five minutes from San Francisco and convenient to both Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries.
The original building is thought to be the oldest Victorian home in Sonoma and for years was the main house of a 300-acre vineyard and horse ranch. In 1997 it was graciously transformed into a 64 room inn, spa and restaurant.
MacArthur Place is set among seven acres of magnificent gardens filled with original sculpture, flagstone paths, fountains, benches, and a swimming pool and whirlpool. The Garden Spa and Fitness Center at MacArthur Place is a unique oasis of relaxation offering unusual massage treatments using the flowers and herbs from their own garden.
Each room at the Inn is individually decorated with beautiful furnishings, down comforters, custom linens, and original artwork. Amenities in the baths are locally made from area grapes. All rooms have TV, CD and DVD players, plush terry robes, hair dryers, iron and ironing boards, two-line phones with data port and voice mail, and coffeemakers with MacArthur Places own house-blend coffee.
